Rachel Smith, DVM, DACVR
Growing up in metro Detroit, Dr. Rachel Smith was fascinated by all things anatomy and bones. She originally focused her goal on becoming a paleontologist, only to learn that she could harness her interest to help animals that were currently living. She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Michigan State University (MSU) and following graduation, completed a one-year rotating internship at North Carolina State University. She completed her residency in Diagnostic Imaging at Michigan State University and obtained board certification in the same year. She continues to practice in the metro Detroit region and provide consultation and educational services to Michigan State University and local residents and students. She is an active advocate for continuing education for veterinary students and veterinary professionals and to train both veterinary students and veterinarians through daily clinical rotations and both local and national lectures and hands-on laboratories. Outside of the clinic, she enjoys traveling, cycling, and hiking with her husband and daughter, and snuggles with her two cats Marv and Harriet as much as possible.
